LO3: Shot log
Comparison:
Our Shot log not only tells us the order off the clips for
also gives further insight to what we've actually included in documentary. This
means that we are able to compare the initial ideas within our storyboard to
what we actually filmed, meaning when analysing the two we can decide if
anymore special effects should be added or if any more details should be
included.
The first significant change we made Was removing the
disclaimer from the final edit. This initial idea was generated As we deemed it
necessary to add a disclaimer in order to make our audiences aware what type of
information is being given. However, due to the distribution of the short film
being on social media, we are able to control the demographics of the audience
that will be viewing our documentary, more specifically age verification. By
doing so also meant that we could include more shot types within our title
screen such as the two panning shots, which wouldn't have been included if we
added a disclaimer.
Furthermore when filming the documentary, we decided to add
more scenes/break the clips down into smaller sections so that we could include
more transitional effects in the final edit. This also separated the
information so that the content was not confusing And the overall short film
flowed more, avoiding the information merging together.
Additionally, the specific shot types when the actors are
talking differed from close up to a medium shot. Using a medium shot type
allowed more content to be included in the shot itself, most importantly, the
hospital can be seen in the background to clarify to the audience where we are
and what relevance that has on the documentary itself. If we used a closeup
shot, the setting would not have been
predominantly seen and could confuse the audience as unsure as to where we are.
Finally, we decided to remove the voice over to the final
image and include text. This meant the content we were producing was presented
in various ways and by removing the voice over, an ominous atmosphere was
created. This is relevant to the April topic to what the documentary is about
and reinforces the relationship between the topic and the mood that we are
creating.
