LO4 How we got feedback

Image
So that we could gather feedback on our short film to ensure that all the conventions were met and the purpose for our short film was fully presented, we conducted a screen test to our teachers and peers on Google forms. We decided to use Google forms as it is accessible to anyone who has access to the link and can be completed on different devices such as computers, mobile phones and tablets. this meant that everybody who watched the screen test was able to give feedback so that we could understand where our strengths and weaknesses lie from our target audience’s point of view. Finally, collecting feedback has meant that we can analyse where improvements can be made, so that when we distribute the short film to an even wider audience, they will enjoy the film a lot more.

LO4 Improvements

Improvements  Before getting feedback from the screen test that we performed, we discussed as a team where we thought improvements could be made. This concluded that our biggest issue was that we were unable to vary the camera movements due to the location we filmed in. Overall, this meant that within the final cut, there were only a limited amount of angles and shots that were used, which neglected to add rangeability to our clips within the final edit. To improve this we needed to do more detailed location analysis, in terms of how suitable the environment is for filming equipment, which well make certain that when filming different motions can be moved so that the documentary’s shot types are not as restrained. Lastly, This would also mean that our short film would appeal more to the audience as a difference in short types would make the documentary more interesting. The element that most of our viewers responded to most in a positive manner, would be that our short fil...

LO3 Audio Editing

Audio Editing  We filmed all the scenes within our documentary outside. This mean that external factors, such as the weather impacted the audio so during the editing process we needed to ensure that all the spoken audio is heard clearly. To make certain that all the important information is heard clearly, we altered the audio bar on premier pro by making it louder so that all the details are audible. One major problem that we faced was dictating whether to keep the background sound for the title screen. We didn't know whether it would be necessary to keep the sound as it had no relevance to the documentary. However, on discussion we decided to keep the audio unmuted to establish the location that we were in, which also allowed us to create an environment for our audience to imagine. Adding on to that point, The external noise is frequent throughout our documentary due to the outdoor location that we filmed in, so to keep the audio consistent the decision to maintain the backg...

LO3: Imported footage

Image
Screenshots of imported footage: The title screen will introduce the audience to the name of the documentary and will be an indication on what the documentary is about this is evident by the screenshot above. To create this effect we used an effect on premiere that allowed us to apply two identical boxes and add an animation that makes them fade in. By doing so allows the overall effect if the title screen to appear more professional and allows it to have a more cinematic effect. The videos that have been imported in the title sequence our two punning shots off the location, which will show the audience where she is now. we were able to add text to the title sequence by adding a graphics page onto the video to allow the title to be seen whilst the videos are playing in the background. We were unable to add different transitions to the edit that fit the theme of the overall documentary, for instance we decided to fade the top and bottom section of the video to highlight the title of the...

LO2: Textual analysis of rushes -distinction

How meaning has been created in the rushes using production techniques: The focus point within this textual analysis of the rushes will be how mese-en-scene elements I'm different editing techniques create effects and how this impacts the audience and overall genre of our short film. One of the main mese-en-scene elements that is very particular within our short film is the setting where all the information is given to the audience, which is the secure hospital where Beverley Allitt Is currently serving her sentence. by filming in this setting emphasises to the audience the reality of the documentary highlighting that the events that occurred and the information that is presented to them is all based on fact which happened in a real life setting. The target audience may also be able to relate more and be able to Position themselves closer to the documentary as they will understand the reality surrounding the topics. to fully represent this real life scenery we have included...
